Thank you for your leadership Mike Credicott
Today we announce, with a touch of sadness, the retirement
PBwel offers a range of Ultra-safe integrated electrohydraulic cable cutters which are useful to check and to ensure the absence of voltage on LV and MV underground cables.
Checking before cutting and spiking reduces accidents, and the PBwel power cables and cutting tool ultrasafe range allows engineers to perform safe cutting and spiking operations.
The SPIKE Tool is a safety device used to keep electrical workers safe. SPIKE pierces the neutral or sheath of a cable, as well as its insulation, to reach the main conductor. If the cable is powered prior to cutting, an arcing fault is caused by breaking down the insulation.
Spiking is used to ensure that the cable is not live. Cables should be spiked using cable spiking equipment after positive MV-HV cable identification to confirm the circuit is not Live at HV — cables are frequently preliminarily spiked to enable jointing or terminating of faulty 11kV/33kV cables.
1. Check spiking kit
2. Install Earthing Braid & Rod
3. Connect harting plug of the control unit
4. Install the Picoup
5. Turn button on “Cut”
6. Put safety mat
7. Install control unit on the edge of pit
8. Insert battery
9. Deny access to the area during C.A.T
10.Leave a distance of 8 metres from the operating area
11. Activate transmitter button “ON”
12. Wait until the operation is complete (roughly 2 to 5 min)
13. After C.A.T deactivate transmitter button “OFF”
14. Open tool. Turn button on “Zero”. And after “OPEN”
15. Recharge battery clean blade & spike
